Why do we get cold with sniffing and headache when it becomes cold weather outside?
During the cold season, the temperature in the air outside starts to drop down. At certain places, it even goes below freezing point. Our body has to stay above 34 to 35 degrees celsius to function properly and in normal rhythm. It maintains a homeostasis by regulating the heating system in the body.
Thus when it is warm outside, the homeostasis is maintained by sweating a lot and inducing cooling in the body. But when it is cold outside, it will induce heating in the body. This heating is done by increasing the speed of flow of blood in the body.
Having said that, the human body is greatly susceptible to outside weather after a certain degree of tolerance. Beyond a certain level, the body will start to excrete excess fluids that it generates by increasing the speed of the blood and other fluids. The lungs as well are trying to protect from becoming dry. This is done by secreting lot of fluid in the alveoli. But this can lead to further cold as the fluid is always cooling in nature.
It is good to support the body’s fighting system by supplementing with warm drinks, herbal decoctions, natural medicines.
Thus, if someone is continuously subjected to cold weather outside, the homeostasis becomes difficult to maintain. The next level of immune response is triggered. This is done by removing any cooling substances from the body. Also if by any chance, if you get infected by bacteria or virus, the body will then begin elimination of the microorganisms.
Thus, the elimination process begins by cold, cough, sneezing, coughing. This my get followed up by loose bowels. If the body does get infected, then the colour of these excretes changes. Depending on the colour, fever, energy levels, one can determine the kind of infection that a person may be going through.
If required, blood, mucus and stool tests can be performed to understand in further depths.
At this stage, if the body and its immunity system is not able to heal itself, then medicine support is required.
