I had been suffering from PCOD. I want to know what is PCOD exactly. What are implications on daily life? What should I do to get better from the PCOD sufferings?
PCOD is the short form of Polycystic Ovarian Disease. PCOD leads to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and this syndrome is a collection of various changes in the life of a woman. The changes can be the appearance of the body, the appearance of the skin, changes in the menstrual cycle.
Females have reproductive organs called as Ovaries. Every female has 2 ovaries. Each ovary is situated on either side of the Uterus which opens into the Vagina through the cervix.
Ovaries get stimulated by the stimulating hormones sent by the Pituitary gland in the brain. The hormones are the Leutinizing hormone, the Follicular stimulating hormone. The ovary secretes Progesterone, Estrogen. These act on the Ovum and the Uterus every month. If there is no pregnancy, then the Uterus sheds its grown layers. It is called the menstrual cycle.
