There have been many talks that mobile phones are very harmful for health. They can bring headaches, they can cause cancer and related concerns. I want to understand how much is this true? If so, what precautions should I take regarding usage of mobile phones?
Mobile phones are basically devices which capture the electromagnetic waves sent out through cell phone towers. These waves carry all information of voice, data, apps and are coded and decoded by devices that receive the same.
The human body is very much adapted to protect from any damage from such electromagnetic waves. Every layer of the body right from the skin, fat tissue, muscles and bones protect inner organs. We are thus not subjected to any damage from the waves.
In fact we have been surrounded from such waves since the beginning of life on Earth. Having said that, the electromagnetic waves sent by the cell phone towers and those received by the mobile phones are more intense. The phones also amplify the signals and thus constant holding them to the ear will mean that we are exposed to these concentrated waves for a long duration.
Thus, extended usage of the phones can lead to derangement in blood circulation. They can also stimulate inflammation response and trigger a few biomarkers. All of these changes will take a long time of exposure to phones and is still a reversible change to a large extent. The end results are usually headache or burning in eyes.
Thus, to be on a safer side, it is always better to use earphones or headphones which will help to increase the distance of the mobile phones from our head area. Such earphones also allow to have both hands free and thus we are able to continue without existing tasks by our hands. Try and keep communication lesser through cheaper versions of the mobile phones.
Modern handsets are coming up with better protection from electromagnetic wave damage. As a thumb rule, if a phone does not heat up a lot too quickly, then it could be a good quality phone.
