Introduction to B. Tech. 2018 admissions in Manipal Institute of Technology

Manipal Institute of Technology is ranked 4th among private engineering colleges in India. This rank has been given on account of the quality of education imparted by the institution in recent years. The institution collaborates at the national and international levels to provide opportunities for research and student exchange programmes.

Eligibility and Admissions to the course

The basic eligibility criteria for gaining admission to the B.Tech. course is as follows:
Candidate should have passed and completed either

  • 10 + 2 pattern
  • A Level
  • IB
  • American 12th grade
  • Other equivalent courses which should have Physics, Mathematics and English. They should also optionally have Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or other vocational subjects. Additionally the candidate should gain 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and one of the optional subjects.

Admissions to the institution can be gained either in General category or even in the Foreign/NRI category. Students desirous of gaining admission in the General category should appear for the All India Manipal Online Entrance Test (MU-OET) 2018. The admission will be done on the merit basis.

The other kind of admissions are for the seats reserved for Foreign?NRI Category. These admissions are done on the basis of the marks obtained in particular examinations in respective countries.
Admissions for each type of seat is allowed for all candidates, on the basis of merit.

Scholarship details for admissions

The scholarships offered by the institution are based on various criteria.

  • Candidates who secure the first 100 ranks in the MU-OET 2018 will be given 100% freeship. Although the candidate will need to pay the requisite fees at the time of admission counselling. If any excess amount would be accepted, then the
    difference will be returned after the admissions.
  • Students who gain Rank in between 101 to 1000 will be offered merit-cum-means scholarship. The scholarship will be decided according to the overall income of the parents.
    • For the following scholarships, the student will have to pay a minimum of Rs 10,000 Rs or the course fee which is higher after deducting the scholarship amount. The student will also have to pay a refundable cautionary deposit of Rs 30,000. Students who would be eligible for the scholarship will have to give a attested photocopy of the Income Tax Returns as proof of income by parents.

      Parents who are not working should give a notarized affidavit that rhey are not currently employed.

    • If the annual income of parents is up to 3 Lakh Rupees, the student will get 100% scholarship on course fee
    • If the annual income of parents is up to 3 Lakh to 5 Lakh Rupees, the student will get 90% scholarship on course fee
    • If the annual income of parents is up to 5 Lakh to 7.5 Lakh Rupees, the student will get 75% scholarship on course fee
    • If the annual income of parents is up to 7.5 Lakh to 10 Lakh Rupees, the student will get 50% scholarship on course fee
    • If the annual income of parents is up to 10 Lakh to 12.5 lakh Rupees, the student will get 25% scholarship on course fee
    • If the annual income of parents is up to 12.5 Lakh and above Rupees, the student will get 10% scholarship on course fee
  • AICTE ScholarshipAICTE has introduced a tuition fee scheme for economically backward students. Students will be able to avail the scholarship if the annual income of the parents would be less than Rs 6 Lakh.
  • Scholarship for Konkani Speaking StudentsStudents speaking Konkani language as their mother tongue would be given 10% waiver of tuition fee.
  • Scholarship for Academy of General Education Students (SAGES)Students who have studied for two years of PUC for their undergraduate education would be eligible for gaining Scholarship under the SAGES category.
  • ITC ScholarshipStudents who had been excelling in operational subjects and have completed BHM, will get a scholarship of Rs 3.5 Lakh.
