Education has become a streamlined and admissions and entrance procedures are done to ensure students of equal and correct caliber get the correct stream according to their mental and physical strength. Undergraduate tests in various countries
Undergraduate is the level when a student completes his schooling and junior college education levels and takes this first step towards professional education. This gives a professional exposure to the student through which he / she can become able to work in the industry.
The tests are different in each country. There can be some similar examinations in different countries and some entrance tests might be compatible through such countries.
STAT – Special Tertiary Admissions Test
This test is used to check the aptitude of Non School leavers. Students can take admission into Undergraduate programs without having the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
UMAT – Undergraduate Medical Admissions Test
This test is a gateway for students in Australia and New Zealand who want to take admission to Medical and Dental Schools.
GAMSAT – Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test
Just like UMAT, but is specifically for admissions into the Medical and Dental schools in Australia.
PQA – Personal Qualities Assessment
This test is being in demand by many universities in Australia. This test is required to be given along with the UMAT or GAMSAT to take admission into courses related to Health Sciences and Medical and Dental Sciences.
GAT – General Achievement Test
This test is for students with the Victoria Certificate of Education, also known as VCE.
HSC – Higher School Certificate
This certificate is given when a student complete Junior college level education.
The Vestibular is a single exam which provides admissions to various universities in Brazil. While there is a single Vestibular exam, each university may have their variation of the Vestibular entrance.
ENEM – National High School Exam
This test came into existence since 2009. The score given by the ENEM exam is used by many universities in Brazil as an admission standard. In fact, many universities stopped having their own Vestibulars in favor of the ENEM.
PSU – Prueba de Selección Universitaria
The PSU is the successor to the PAA test – also known as the Prueba de Aptitude Académica test which was in place since 1966. The PSU is prepared by the Department of Evaluation, Measurement and Educational Registry (DEMRE) of the Universidad de Chile. The test is being used by 25 universities which make up the Council of Rectors (Cruch); also known as the Traditional Universities or “Universidades Tradicionales”. Along with the traditional universities, the PSU is also used by 8 other private universities in Chile, namely University Diego Portales , Universidad Mayor , Universidad Finis Terrae , Universidad Andrés Bello , Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez , Universidad de los Andes , Universidad del Desarrollo and Universidad Alberto Hurtado.
NCEE – National College Entrance Examination
The NCEE has been a standard test which many of the universities in China have implemented to use as a mean of ranking students to make their entry in to the colleges of China. .
AST – Ameson Scholastic Test
The AST is required for Chinese students applying for further education at the University of Cambridge of UK. The AST is also being used by certain universities in UK and Australia.
SABER 11 Exam
This test is for undergraduate students applying for graduation education at universities in Colombian jurisdiction.
Prueba de Ingreso a la Universidad
This examination is a series of exams which deal with different subjects which a student is required to give according to the different education they want to study in Cuba.
Baccalauréat (or le bac)
The Le Bac is a single entrance examination for all students prior to taking entry into University education.
Abitur is similar to Le Bac. It is to be given by all students who are seeking further University level education.
JUPAS – Joint University Programmes Admission System
The academic year of 2011/12 witnessed a change in the examination system of Hong Kong. The JUPAS stopped using the benchmark of Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) and Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination(HKCEE). Since 2011/12, they have initiated use of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE). The JUPAS is used by the University Grants Committee funded institutes and also as benchmark by non UGC funded institutes.
B2 CEFR level
Hungary will have B2 CEFR language assessment examination since 2016 and will be conducted through The European Language Certificates and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Admissions throughout India are varied and each state and university may have their own entrance examinations. Education in India is given in grades or standards. Once a student completed Twelfth standard which includes two years of Junior college education, they can opt for the type of entrance examination they want to give. There do exist some common entrance tests throughout India, while majority of states have their own entrance tests. Admissions to higher institutions like the IITs, NITs are conducted by JEE-MAINS, NISER, CBS, CLAT etc.
CLAT – Common Law Admission Test
The CLAT is meant for admission to Law education in India. Students can get admission to the National Law Universities in India.
JEE-MAINS – Joint Entrance Examination – Mains
This test is meant to be the entrance test for National Institutes of Technology and as well to the government engineering colleges in India. Students looking for entrance to Delhi College of Engineering and the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology are also required to give the entrance examination. Students looking for entrance to Indian Institute of Technology should also give JEE Advanced tests.
CIC Admission Test
This examination is for the Cluster Innovation Center of University of Delhi. Students are required to give this examination followed by Interview for selection into B.Tech as well as Masters Programs into the CIC.
AIPMT – All India Pre Medical Test
This test is required for admission to Government Medical Colleges in India. It makes a student eligible to be a part of the 15% Central Government quota for medical admissions throughout India.
BITSAT – Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test
The BITSAT is the test required to be given to get admission into BITS Pilani institutes of Technology and Sciences throughout the country.
VITEEE – Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination
The VIT is located at Vellore and Chennai. It is one of the premier institutes of India. The VITEEE is the mode for entry into the Institutes.
NEST – National Entrance Screening Test
The NEST is a test for students seeking admission into the National Institute of Science Education and Research, also called as NISER. And the University of Mumbai for Department of Atomic Energy Center for Excellence in Basic Sciences.
Aligarh Muslim University Test
This test is again for students who want to pursue education for courses available in the Aligarh Muslim University.
GSSIPU – Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University
The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts tests to various programmes in various government and private colleges
CAT, XAT, MAT, NMAT, AMCAT, SNAP
These are standardized tests for entrance into Indian Institute of Management – IIMs. These tests are also useful for entrance into other business schools
- Private deemed universities including but not limited to Manipal University, SRM, KIIT, Jain university have their own entrance examinations.
- Admissions into MBBS education can also be obtained through National Eligibility and Entrance Tests – NEET- UG
- Entry into Masters for Urban Planning is available at Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design can be gained by giving the Planning Admission Test – PAT.
- The Common Entrance Test for Design – CEED is held every year to provide admission into various design courses like Product Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation Graphic, Vehicle Design and Mobility. This exam is held jointly with the Industrial Design Center of the Indian Institute of Technology, Human Resource Development and the Indian Institute of Science.

WBJEE – West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination
The West Bengal JEE was initiated in 1962. Students aspiring for Undergraduate level Engineering courses leading to Bachelor’s degree in Engineering should appear for this entrance exam.
BCECE – Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination
This entrance examination is the gateway for medical, engineering and pharmacy academic courses in the state of Bihar.
MP-PET – Madhya Pradesh Pre Engineering Test
The MP-PET is a state level exam and is conducted by “Vyapam”. Vyapam is the professional examination board of Madhya Pradesh. The test has been conducted since the year 1981. The MP-PET has now been replaced with the Joint Entrance Examination since 2014. But the 2015 exam of MP-PET would be conducted as well. The exam is conducted in English language in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the first part. The second part is specialized.
CG-PET – Chhattisgarh Pre Engineering Test
This test enables students to get admissions into Engineering graduate course in the state of Chhattisgarh.
CG-PMT – Chhattisgarh Pre Medical Test
This test enables students to get admissions into Medical graduate course in the state of Chhattisgarh.
Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test
This test is required for admission into the various Engineering colleges in the state of Rajasthan. The colleges which accept this test are government engineering colleges and some affiliated colleges.
Rajasthan Pre Medical Test
This test is required for admission into the various medical and pharmacy colleges in the state of Rajasthan.
GUJCET – Gujarat Common Entrance Test
The GUJCET provides a gateway towards the admissions in Engineering, Medical and Pharmacy courses.
This test is required for admissions into MCA and MBA programmes in the state of Gujarat.
PAT – Planning Admission Test
This test is required for admissions into Masters in Urban Planning programmes offered by BCHS, APIED at VV Nagar in Gujarat.
This entrance exam provides admissions into the Engineering and Medical colleges of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
CEE – Common Engineering Examination
This test provides admissions to certain engineering and medical colleges in the state of Assam
Admissions to Engineering colleges in Delhi are done through the All Indian Engineering Entrance Examination – AIEEE.
The CET – Common Entrance test provides a mean of entry into State Government Engineering College and to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
KCET- Karnataka Common Entrance Test
This test provides entrance to admissions into Engineering and Medical Colleges in the State of Karnataka.
The Comed-K stands for Consortium of Medical and Engineering colleges in Karnataka. It provides an entrance test to the private medical and engineering colleges of Karnataka.
KEAM – Kerala Engineering and Medical Entrance
The KEAM is the medium for getting admissions into the Engineering and Medical Entrance examinations in Kerala.
MHT-CET – Maharashtra Common Entrance Test
The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is a single gateway to admissions into the Medical, Engineering and Pharmacy colleges in the state.
Orissa JEE – Orissa Joint Entrance Examination
The Orissa Joint Entrance Examination is the test to get admissions into Medical, Engineering and Management colleges in Odisha.
SEE-UPTU – State Entrance Examination – Uttar Pradesh Technical University
The Uttar Pradesh Technical University is now split into Gautam Buddha Technical University and the Mahamaya Technical University. The SEE-UPTU provides entrances and admission to Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy and Management courses provided by the colleges affiliated to these universities.
Single Window Admission System
Single Window Admission System is being introduced by the state of Tamil Nadu for admissions into Engineering colleges throughout the state.
The colleges following admission through the Single Window System in Tamil Nadu include all colleges affiliated to the Anna University, certain colleges from the Government and Government aided sector and certain self financed Engineering colleges.
Indonesia has a few tests which are held nationwide while some are specific to each university. The following entrance tests are held in Indonesia.

The UMB – PT is a Joint entrance examination for several well known state universities and colleges in Indonesia.
The Test Potential Field of Science – TPBI is held for students in their 1st semester of Grade 12. Students giving this entrance examination are considered through their interests and talents in Track Invitation University.
The SBM-PTAIN is held for students wanting to enter the Public Islamic Universities of Indonesia.
The SMUP Unpad is for students wishing to enter into the Universitas Padjadjaran at Bandung in Indonesia.
The Gadjah Mada University conducts an examination for admission to its Medicine education stream.
Other tests include the SIMAK UI and the USM Unsri.
