Statehood day in Montenegro is named as: Dan državnosti in Montenegrin, Tag des Staates in German and States dag in Norwegian languages.
The significance of this day dates back from 1878. On 13th July, 1878, the Berlin Congress recognised Montenegro as the 27th independant state of the world.
On this day in 1941, the Montenegrins also staged an uprising against the Nazi occupiers of the state.
The Independence day of Montenegro is observed on 21st May since 2006. In an all nation vote, 55.5% of Montenegrins voted for having a separate and independant state.
