Lee Jackson day is celebrated in the state of Virginia in United States of America. This day is in remembrance of Robert E Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. This day is celebrated on the Friday before Martin Luther King Day.
While this day is a part of four days long weekends in Virginia state, the Lexington city celebrates this day with many activities like Parades, music shows, memorial services, public speeches and parades.
While many schools, shops and offices may remain open and working in business hours, public transport services may be closed or reduced in frequency.
General Lee and is known to lead the military and naval forces in the civil war of 1865 until he surrendered to General Ulysses Grant in 1865. Thomas Jackson led the troops through the Union right flank at Chancellorsville to route the 11th Corps. But he got seriously injured and wounded and succumbed to the injuries on 10th May, 1863.
